Since having come to Nepal in 2006 I have welcomed this part that comes with it, excessive farting. I am not to say that this is the case with everyone, but fortunately it has been for me.
I was thinking about how taboo it is to do so, and I am thankful for those in my life that understand farting to simply be a part of who we are.
Recently, the Servant Team was over at my house, I was sitting on my wood chair we were all talking and then something had brought out a laugh in me…WELL…that wasn’t all it brought out in me! A large fart came with it echoed by the wood chair!
I immediately said “ohhhhh” and looked around a bit nervously at each of their faces. (wondering if they are safe to fart around??….maybe our relationship hasn’t gotten there yet?? does it smell?? oooo nooooo!) To my amazement it seemed no one noticed, so I just continued without making it more public than what I thought it already was!

I would like to not be counted among those who think farting is just part of who we are, because it really grosses me out.

Yeah…. we heard it. Sorry Capitain. It took everything within me not to laugh out loud…. but I too was unsure if we were at that point in our relationship where we could laugh. We’ll laugh next time… I promise.

Calvin,
If it makes you feel any better, I farted out loud in my cube the other day. Everyone there pretended not to hear it too. See farts are the same no matter where you are in the world!
